Reno Web Design Costs

I think I mentioned in another article that the reason I started to host and design websites for local businesses here in Reno and elsewhere was because of the huge fees other local firms were charging. So how much should you expect to pay for a local business website?

There are several different ways to go about it of course, but the most common are by the hour, and by the job. Both have their ups and downs for both the designer and the owner.

Then there’s the matter of website maintenance.

Who’s going to upkeep your website?

Do you know enough to do it yourself?

If you don’t, will your designer take the time to show you how the first few months, or will they just insist that they do it, or you’re on your own.

Do you know what you need your website to do?

Do you need help knowing what a website can do for your business?

Do you know enough to maintain but not to build a website?

Maybe you know how to build, but you can’t search engine optimize your website (SEO).

Whatever the case, a point in the right direction is important, if you want your optimized site on the first page at Google. Look for design by the job.  Communicate exactly what you want your website to do for your business, and make sure that your designer can do that.

It’s even better if you can point to an example of what you want.  Get a price for the whole job up front, with everything itemized that’s included.  Half should be due at the start of the job, the other half should be due just before upload of your site.  Look for a satisfaction guarantee.
