Reno Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO), is the practice of getting one's website to rank as high as possible in the organic search results of a search engine, usually Google, as it captures about 60% of all search engine queries.

Why do people pay for SEO? Because they want to get traffic to their website without having to pay for it. Traffic means money. Whether you're talking leads, ads, donations or sales, it all equals money. And the more traffic you have, the more of it you will get.

Since most people doing business online understand this, the competition is extreme for the first page of results on a Google search for just about any keyword. So tough in fact that some companies pay thousands of dollars every month just to make that they get to, or stay on, the first page (the first ten results).

So what determines the difficulty of a search term (keyword)?

  • The amount of money it's worth to companies selling (buying advertising for) that product or service.
  • The amount of competition for that term.
  • The skill level of the competition for that term.

There are other factors, but for purposes of this discussion those are the the big three. It's a big business, and it's serious. Having the number on ranking on Google for a term like "debt consolidation", or "mesothelioma" could mean thousands of dollars per day just from visitors clicking on your ads. So tell me, how much would you pay to get that?
